The Thirsty Cave

Here’s a place named The Thirsty Cave

That’s where I hang around

Where nobody turn their face

If you take off of the ground

Dead heads all around

Pints of escape in their hands

Nobody’s talking

But they’re some kind of friends

Here I sit and watch the time pass me by

I still see your face, waving good-bye

Once there was a brave young boy

Shine of hope in his eyes

Chose to be sailor for one year

Kissed his lady bye-bye

First stop was Kathmandu

Where you get what you pay

Cool bars and brothel nights

His dream faded away

Took a lot of years, time passed me by

If I close my eyes, you wave good-bye

Here I sit and watch the poppies growing

Try to push my brain up where the dreams are flowing

Where the eyes of real love used to kick me

Before the inheritance of old Eve tricked me

Hey fellows one dozen barrels of whiskey

And you guide me across the sea

Ring the ship-bell as we cross the ocean

Regard from The Thirsty Cave

Where I crash one more day

Thinking of you my love

While the breeze whips the bay

Seen a lot of young hopeful eyes

As they came into town

They all came for a little break

But they still hang around

Just like me, my love, time pass them by

Lots of tear-stained eyes, but nobody cries
